We are excited to be hosting our annual fundraiser for education programs, the Mission Creek Soiree, on Saturday, May 18. For this special event, the Museum Backyard, Santa Barbara Gallery, Mammal Hall, and Bird Halls are temporarily closed to the public. The Museum will close early at 3:30 PM. But don't worry, there's plenty more to explore all over campus, including a sneak peek of our new dinosaur exhibit Prehistoric Forest!

Invertebrate Zoology

By any measure, invertebrates are the dominate group of animals on the planet. With tens of millions of species and ranging from mountain tops to the deepest depths of the ocean floor, invertebrates are a pivotal part of global ecosystems.

The Invertebrate Zoology Department is focused on documenting the diversity of life in our region and around the globe. We are actively conducting original research, describing new species, and tracking change in diversity and habitats over time.
