We are excited to be hosting our annual fundraiser for education programs, the Mission Creek Soiree, on Saturday, May 18. For this special event, the Museum Backyard, Santa Barbara Gallery, Mammal Hall, and Bird Halls are temporarily closed to the public. The Museum will close early at 3:30 PM. But don't worry, there's plenty more to explore all over campus, including a sneak peek of our new dinosaur exhibit Prehistoric Forest!

Anthropology

Anthropology is the study of humans and their culture, both past and present.

In the Anthropology Department we study the language, culture, and history of people from around the world with a heavy focus on the people who have lived in this region for more than 10,000 years.

Our research and collections make us a leading center for Chumash cultural studies.

Contact us to bring in artifacts for identification.
